BJP today appointed Padam Bahadur Chettri as the president of its state unit in Sikkim.     BJP's North-East in-charge Harendra Pratap said here that Chettri has been made president as part of the party's policy to give opportunities to the youths.     Pratap hoped that BJP will grow in strength under the leadership of the new state unit president by wooing the youths and other sections of people on the basis of the party's policies and programmes.     Chettri, while accepting the new assignment after HR Pradhan, said he would strive to spread the ideology of the saffron party and make it a viable political alternative in Sikkim.     Chettri, in his 30s, had been the vice-president for the past one year and had unsuccessfully contested from the lone Lok Sabha seat in Sikkim.
