The inmates with the help of jail authorities made special dishes such as 'sewayian' and other snacks on the occasion.

Public Relations Officer of Tihar jail, Sunil Gupta said more than 150 Hindu inmates including 60 women prisoners of the jail had observed Roza along with the Muslim inmates.

"More than 4000 inmates offered morning namaz (prayer) today and special arrangements were made for the day. Imam had been called from outside to perform rituals," Gupta said. He said more than 80 women inmates also participated in the celebrations.

"Tihar has always set an example of communal harmony. All our inmates, be it Hindu or Muslim celebrate all the festivals in high spirit. We've been able to create an environment of brotherhood in the jail," Gupta said.

Fruits, special snacks and dry-fruits were arranged during sehari for those who kept roza (fast), Gupta said.
