According to oil companies, the system of home delivery will first be applicable in 100 smart cities
In order to prevent theft of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, customers opting for home delivery would require a one-time password (OTP). And in order to achieve this oil companies are implementing the new Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system from November 1.
According to oil companies, the system of home delivery will first be applicable in 100 smart cities and if the customer satisfaction is good a further expansion will happen. A pilot project is already underway in Jaipur and Rajasthan.
Under the new system of LPG cylinder delivery, an individual who makes the booking will receive a code on the registered mobile number, which has to be shown to the delivery person. This will help in ensuring delivery to the right person.
If the person booking the cylinder has not updated his mobile number, the delivery person will generate an OTP in real-time with the help of an app and deliver the LPG cylinder.
For customers who have not given correct information regarding their address and phone number may face problems and the delivery of the cylinder may be stopped. This will also guarantee delivery to the right person.
To begin with, the DAC system will be applicable in 100 cities and then expanded to other parts of the country.
Notably, this system will not be applicable to commercial LPG cylinders.
