Orissa state armed police jawan commits suicide
The jawan, Prakash Chandra Barik (26), was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died during treatment, inspector in-charge of Mohana police station, GC Mohanty said.
A jawan of the Orissa State Armed Police (OSAP) allegedly committed suicide by piercing a bayonet into his stomach in Orissa's Gajapati district today, police said. The jawan, Prakash Chandra Barik (26), was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died during treatment, inspector in-charge of Mohana police station, GC Mohanty said. The reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained as he had been sanctioned leave for visiting his village near Kendrapara and had also deposited his service rifle yesterday, he said. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
