Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs V Narayanasamy today accused the opposition of causing a loss of Rs78 crore a day to the Parliament, by not creating an atmosphere for debate. Speaking to reporters here, he alleged they were trying to derive political mileage by persisting in their demand for a JPC probe into the alleged scam in the second generation mobile telephony spectrum allocation. "They are not interested in a debate but only trying to cast aspersions and bring disrepute to the UPA government. By raising allegations of irregularities in 2G mobile spectrum allocation, they are trying to divert people's attention." Many important businesses like adoption of bill for women's reservation, bills for labourers welfare and for addressing demands of employees of JIPMER could not be taken up for discussion due to the continued impasse, he added.
