"Now one can get C grade onion at Rs900 per quintal in the wholesale market, while A grade onion is at Rs2,100-2,200 per quintal and B grade is at Rs1,600-200 per quintal," a Mandi Parishad official told Press Trust of India.
Buoyed by the success of the outlets, the district administration plans to open 25 more outlets to sell onions at low rates, an official said.
"We are getting offers from various traders for opening retail counters to sell onions," additional district magistrate (civil supplies) SK Singh said.
He said that as the prices was coming down in the wholesale market, people would start to get cheaper onions in the retail market in days to come.
