One feared killed in Kargil landslide

An employee of General Roads Engineering Force (GREF) was feared killed in a massive landslide in Zanaskar area of Kargil district, police said today.The GREF personnel were busy in construction of a road when a landslide hit them last evening at Nimoo-Chadar Oadum, nearly 350km from here, they said.A JCB vehicle and an air compressor machine got buried under a huge rock, also trapping an employee, while the rest of over a dozen others escaped unhurt, the police said.Rescue parties immediately rushed to the spot and efforts were on to retrieve the trapped person, who is believed to be dead, they said.
