The celebrations of ongoing Ganesh Utsava turned gloomy for a family in Aerodrome area when an infant died after she fell into half filled bucket on Saturday night.
"One-and-a-half year old Vaishnavi, daughter of Mahesh Prajapti, resident of Avantika Nagar under Aerodrome police station was playing in her home with her grandfather. She accidentally fell with head first inside a 20 litre bucket half filed with water," said Investigating Officer CD Gurjar.
"I was present at the time of incident and Vaishnavi was standing with her hands on the bucket. In a moment of flash I saw her struggling with her head inside the bucket. I pulled her out but found her unconscious," said her grandfather.
She was rushed to MY Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Mahesh, a native of Sanwer lives in a rented house in Avantikapuri and works in a tiles factory. He and his wife were in a state of shock after the incident while their two and a half year old son was missing his sister.
The body was sent to post-mortem house and handed over to the family later. A case under section 174 of CrPC was registered by Aerodrome police.
Local residents were shocked by the incident and consoled the bereaved family members.
