Taslima Nasreen made a quiet, now-you-see-her, now-you-don’t appearance in Jaipur on day four of ZeeJLF. She sneaked in very quietly and beat a quick retreat even before anyone had realised that she was there. Apparently, she did not like the attention she was getting and was afraid there would be trouble. Much the same reason why the organisers have kept absolutely quiet about her session on ‘Exile’ tomorrow. Given the to-do that her presence is sure to make, the organisers have wisely decided to spring it as a last minute surprise. There’s been no announcement of the session and it’s not even on the published programme. Caution, they say with good reason, is the better part of valour.

And, so when writer-photographer Christopher Sykes spoke at length about his experiences with the band, he let out a scintillating detail: of the time he saw Mick Jagger strip down to his bare basics. He recalled the time he was meeting the band at Montauk after landing in America for the first time, and then of seeing their friend Andy Warhol walk in. Warhol then proceeded to take some pictures of the band, and suggested that Jagger strip for some pictures. “It was surreal, watching Warhol taking nude pictures of Jagger,” he said.
