The watchman of the Ranaghat Missionary School, where a septuagenarian nun was gangraped a few days back, was interrogated by CID officials today over discrepancies in his statement.

Jayanta was on Monday questioned by senior CID officials at Bhawani Bhawan, the CID headquarters in Kolkata.

"Jayanta had earlier claimed that he was tied by the dacoits who had entered the school. But there were discrepancies in his statement. So we decided to interrogate him once agian," a senior CID official said on condition of anonymity.

He was brought to Bhawani Bhawan at around 10 am and being interrogated by senior CID officials in phases.

The elderly nun, who was gangraped by the dacoits on March 14, was released from hospital on Friday.

The incident has attracted both national and international attention with several missionary organisations condemning the incident.
