A yatra aiming to prevent entry of corrupt leaders into Parliament was launched here today by some social activists. "The first phase of the Ghotala Yatra in Uttar Pradesh will expose various scams committed during successive regimes at the Centre," said Ravi Bharadwaj, a social worker, leading the campaign.

"We will also request the Election Commission to rescind its decision of increasing expenditure limit for Lok Sabha elections," Bharadwaj said.

The first phase of the yatra which will cover Mathura, Hathras, Aligarh, Gaziabad, Bulandshahar, Meerut, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar will culminate in Agra on March 14, he said. 

Before commencing the yatra, the participants took a vow in front of the statue of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the city to fight graft.
