Any citizen of the country can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification to this effect on Tuesday. However, this notification states that land will not be taken for agriculture. The notification issued by the Center says that this order will be called the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order-2020.

This order has been implemented with immediate effect after the notification of the Center. The order states that the General Order Act of 1897 will apply to the interpretation of this order. This will be because it will be for interpreting the laws applicable in the whole region of India.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha said that we want external industries to be set up in the state; investment is needed in such industrialized land. But the cultivated lands will remain only with the people of the state.

Significantly, after this notification, anyone can buy and sell land for a factory, house, or shop in Jammu and Kashmir. For this, he does not need to give any permanent residence certificate as before.
