"What is new in payout of direct cash subsidy to the beneficiaries? There is nothing new in it. Bihar has implemented the cash subsidy payout to beneficiaries," Nitish Kumar told newspersons in Patna.

Nitish Kumar said the Bihar government has been paying cash subsidy directly to students to buy cycles under a scheme. The money is directly made available to students for school uniforms to avoid any leakage.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced a direct cash transfer scheme which would initially be implemented in 51 districts of the country. The subsidy amount would go directly into the bank accounts of the people.
