North West Delhi created after delimitation in 2008 is in news for BJP dumping its prominent Dalit face Udit Raj, who is the incumbent MP from the seat. BJP didn't give him the ticket and instead opted for singer Hans Raj Hans from this SC-reserved seat.

Gugan Singh Ranga who was earlier a BJP MLA is the AAP candidate from North West Delhi. His manifesto focusses on farmer welfare in this predominantly rural constituency located at the fringes of the capital. Also in contention is Congress candidate Rajesh Lilothia, who is former MLA and also the one of the Working Presidents of Delhi Congress. 

Hans Raj Hans' candidature has generated much heat with AAP alleging that he can't contest from this SC-reserved seat as he has converted to Islam in 2014. Hans has vehemently denied this claim and has threatened to bring charges against Arvind Kejriwal. The assembly segments in this Lok Sabha seat are  Nerela, Badli, Rithala, Bawana, Mundka, Kirari, Sultan Pur Majra, Nangloi Jat, Mangol Puri and Rohini. 

Lack of connectivity, drinking water and sanitation are big issues in North West Delhi constituency. Along with that, law and order situation remains a cause of concern and proper access to quality schools, hospitals. In the last election,  Udit Raj defeated Rakhi Bidlan of AAP by over 1.06 lakh votes. Krishna Tirath came poor third. Whereas in 2009, Tirath in Congress ticket wn by 1.85 lakh votes. On May 12, voters of North West Delhi will decide the fate of the candidates who are hoping to be their representative for the next five years.
