Hot and humid weather continued to prevail across Punjab and Haryana on Thursday with Hisar sizzling at 42 degrees Celsius.

While monsoon is expected to hit the two states including Chandigarh in a couple of days, high humidity levels, along with soaring temperatures, have added to the woes of the people. Hisar in Haryana was hotter by three notches against normal on Thursday, a MeT Department official said.

Karnal too sweltered at 39.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while Ambala too had a hot day at 38.3 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. Sultry weather also prevailed in Chandigarh, which recorded a high of 37 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar was hot at 39 degrees Celsius, two notches more than normal while Ludhiana's maximum settled at 36.1 degrees Celsius.

Patiala, too, braved sultry weather recording a high of 37 degrees Celsius.
