No one should have been given chance to point fingers about C'Wealth Games: Congress

As controversy over the preparations of the Commonwealth Games continues, Congress today blamed all those involved for the state of affairs, saying that no one should have been given opportunity to point fingers.

The party at the same time maintained that some of the criticism by foreign countries was because of the "stereotype" in which they see India.

"I agree that we should not have given a chance to anybody to point fingers...At the same time, it is also a question of stereotype and mindset. And when they collide, then we see controversies," party spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here.

The party wanted everyone concerned to pull out all stops to conduct the Games in a successful manner.

"This should be topmost priority," Tewari added.

The party spokesperson's response came in the backdrop of sports minister MS Gill wanting to apprise the Cabinet about the Games but disallowed by prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Asked about the controversy in the Cabinet, Tewari said he was not privy to the meeting and cannot comment on it.
