In what has come as a rude shock to the educated, unemployed youth in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that plenty of government jobs are available in the state but there is a dearth of educated and suitable candidates to grab them.
The CM made this statement during a private function in Lucknow when asked about his tall promises to offer government jobs to the unemployed youth which is leaving the state in search of jobs.
“The statement is an excuse for his government’s failing to create jobs for the youth in UP. Unemployed youth feel insulted and cheated,” said Capt SJS Makker, a senior Congress leader.
Recently, about 3,700 PhD holders, 28,000 postgraduates and 58,000 graduates had applied for 62 posts of telecom messengers in UP Police. The minimum qualification for the posts was primary education. Overeducated youth making a beeline for a peon’s job belies the CM’s claims.
Samajwadi Party Spokesperson Suni Sajan said that the CM’s statement has made him a laughing stock. “Let him come out with the figures of how many government jobs his government created. His government is unable to fill existing vacancies due to repeated paper leaks and has miserably failed to accommodate over a lakh Shiksha Mitras appointed during the SP government,” said Sajan.
The State Head of the NCP Dr Ramesh Dixit pointed that there is no dearth of talent in UP. He claimed that a large number of IAS/IPS officers selected in the civil services exams hail from UP. Similarly, the state produces eminent jurists, doctors, engineers. It has also given eight PMs to the country. “What more proof does he want? There is no dearth of talent in the state but job scarcity forces them to migrate,” said Dr Dixit, who retired as Head of Political Science department, Lucknow University.
