TIRUPATI: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Saturday denied there was intelligence failure in preventing incidents like the blast in a Hyderabad mosque on Friday.

Speaking to reporters at Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara near here, he said there was no lack of coordination in sharing intelligence between the state and the Centre. "The relationship between the two, especially with regard to exchange of information is very cordial", he said.

The Center, Patil said, would take all precautionary measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

"People who do not want peace and communal harmony in the country take advantage of every opportunity," he said.

Expressing satisfaction over the security at Tirumala and the hill shrine, he said the Centre, if needed, was ready to further enhance security on the seven hills.

Patil flew in here this afternoon from Hyderabad and will stay on the hills tonight. Tight security arrangements were put in place on the hills.
