"The Central government has not initiated any discussion with the political parties, religious leaders on the matter of framing an anti-conversion legislation," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said replying a written question.

Rijiju said some states like Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha have enacted laws providing for the prohibition of the conversion from one religious faith to any other religious faith by the use of force or inducement or by fraudulent means etc. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the government wants an anti-conversion law but noted that India is the only country where minorities do not seek such a law.
