Rich tributes were paid to the first President of Independent India Rajendra Prasad on his 129th birth anniversary today by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The chief minister garlanded the statue of Prasad at a function before Raj Bhawan and gave away khadi saris to women of the charkha samiti.

Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs Shyam Rajak and others also paid respects to Prasad, who was a resident of Bihar.

Later, Kumar and Rajak visited Rajendra Ghat and garlanded another statue of Prasad.

Artists of the Public Relation Department and school children sang devotional songs on the occasion.
