The swearing-in took place a day after the Centre issued a notification announcing elevation of nine judicial officers of Uttar Pradesh and the appointment as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court.

Those sworn in today were Justices Akhilesh Chandra Sharma, Krishna Singh, Rajiv Lochan Mehrotra, Mahboob Ali, Rang Nath Pandey, Aniruddh Singh, Dinesh Kumar Singh, Ifaqat Ali Khan and Justice Umesh Chandra.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh was previously the Registrar General of the High Court and has now been replaced by Mohd Faiz Alam Khan, who was the District and Sessions judge of Shahjahanpur prior to taking up his latest assignment.

The total number of judges at the Allahabad High Court, including those posted at the Lucknow bench, has now reached 91, as against the sanctioned strength of 160.
