The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting searches at 9 locations across three states in a case relating to misappropriation of government funds.

The raids are being conducted at Mizoram, Manipur, and Haryana.

The CBI has so far registered a case against Okram Ibobi Singh (former Manipur CM & the then Chairman, Manipur Development Society) and 5 others. The names of those against whom cases have been registered are Ibobi Singh, the then Chairman, Manipur Development Society (MDS); Y Ningthem Singh, former Project Director of MDS; DS Poonia, IAS (Retd.), the then Chairman of MDS; PC Lawmuknga, IAS (Retd.), the then Chairman of MDS; O. Nabakishore Singh, IAS (Retd.), the then Chairman; S Ranjit Singh, Administrative Officer, MDS and others.

Okram Ibobi Singh, former Manipur CM, one of the accused in the case, along with others has allegedly misappropriated govt funds to the tune of Rs 332 crore, which was earmarked for executing development work while working as Chairman of Manipur Development Society.

Earlier, on November 5, the CBI conducted search operations at over 169 locations across the country in connection with bank fraud cases. The CBI registered around 35 cases related to bank frauds of more than Rs 7,000 crore.

Certain places where the CBI conducted these operations are Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, MP, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, UP, Uttarakhand, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
