A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team led by Director General YC Modi on Wednesday reached Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama and carried out analysis of the place where terror attack took place on February 14, killing 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. “DG NIA along with a team of officers, including two Inspector Generals, Deputy Inspector General and Superintendent, visited the place of occurrence of the incident. The officers of CRPF and local police were also present there,” said NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal.

Mittal also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed regarding probe progress so far by the investigating officer.

The agency has re-registered the case and formed a team to investigate the audacious terror strike, an NIA spokesperson said.

The case was initially registered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Awantipora police station on the day of attack against the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists.

The agency officials were there with explosive and forensic experts had collected material evidences required for the probe.

The agency has also met senior police, intelligence and Army officers to gather whatever evidence they have, they said. The NIA will probe the planning and execution of the terror attack, the second such in three decades of terrorists presence in the state.   The agency is also looking upon how the RDX had been transported and brought to Pulwama and weather the trucks carrying cements across the International Borders were involved will also be verified.
