New Year rush sends airfares soaring in Jaipur
Airlines have almost doubled their ticket prices to various destinations citing non-availability of seats.
Travelling by air has now become very expensive. The airlines have hiked the airfares in view of New Year rush. The fares will remain high till New Year celebrations get over. Interestingly, the fares for Mumbai-bound flights have increased the most.
Maximum flights operating from Jaipur are Mumbai-bound. There is no direct flight between Jaipur and Goa. So the fare for connecting flights has gone up almost three times, as the rush for Goa is higher nowadays from Jaipur.
Fare from Jaipur to most of the cities will be much higher ahead of New Year. Anil Warman, station manager, Air India, Jaipur, said, “The fares of our flights to various destinations are decided by authorities in Delhi and Mumbai offices. The price of ticket depends on the availability of seats and passenger rush.”
As people are making plans to celebrate New Year at new destinations, the airlines find it the right time to It has become a routine practice for airlines to hike their fares during important festivals and occasions.
The airfare was increased more than twice by airlines during Diwali festival and also during the Assembly elections.
No RegulationAs the ticket booking for a flight increases, the airline management hikes the ticket price. There are no regulations on fare hike, that’s why the base fare differs greatly from airline to airline. For example, base fare for a Mumbai-bound Indigo flight on December 26 will be Rs4,450, while for another flight of Jet Airways to the same destination, the base fare would be Rs18,400. Airlines increase their base fare whenever the passenger-rush increases.
