Peeyush Pandey, who was the OCW, WBPD in the rank of IG was made the Commissioner of the new police commissionerate formed after Howrah, Bidhannagar, Barrackpore, Asansol-Durgapur and Siliguri Police commissionerates, state Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purkayastha said today.

As many as nine police stations including Bhadreswar, Rishra, Serampore, Chinsura, Dankuni and two women police stations will be under Chandannagar Police Commissionerate.

The remaining 17, including a woman police station, will continue to be under the jurisdiction of West Bengal Police which will be headed by the Superintendent of Police.
