The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has recently released its 23 pages manifesto for ensuing Lok Sabha polls with a lot of sops and promises ranging from complete loan waiver to abolition of Triple talak bill. The tag line of this manifesto was 'Aao Milke Desh Banaye, Hamara Aapka Hum Sabaka Bharat!' While in 2014, the NCP had emphasised on Maratha and Muslim reservations. The Maratha reservations decision has been completed by the incumbent government but they neglected the 5% Muslim reservations. In 2019, NCP manifesto there is no reference of Muslim reservations whether they bring back again or not? The 2014 Lok Sabha, manifesto was 41-page document. It had covered a range of subjects such as governance, secular fabric, development, benefits to senior citizens, etc.

Interestingly, in 2019, the Sharad Pawar led NCP had decided to focus on the agrarian issues more than the community-related issues. In this manifesto, under the title of “The Need of the Hour'-- it had also appealed the voters that they need to defeat the communal forces because of them, Indian Constitution is in danger. It told voters that there is a conspiracy to sabotage the spirit of the constitution. If the people want to see democracy in India, then all should come together to dethrone this incumbent.” appealed in the manifesto.

In 2014, this issue was not part of the manifesto at all. It was more about promises and done work. In 2019, NCP in its manifesto says that in the last 14 years, the agriculture growth is worst and need to be changed by increasing the productions and exports. Besides, jobs creation is a major topic of this said manifesto. Like 2014, in 2019 also, the NCP discussed and promised the free medicals to senior citizen. Moreover, the equal distribution of wealth and abolition of Triple Talak Bill for the minority was also one of the promises of this manifesto. This is minority appeasement or not disturbing the minority community personal laws and keeping them happy. Sanjay Tatkare, NCP spokesperson said that while preparing the manifesto for any elections, the experts of that subjects are formed and given this intellectual work. “We discuss several things which happened in the last five years. We try to provide the solutions and future plans for the welfare of the people in this same documents. We try to focus each and every community and the poorest of the poor and neglected sections gets the special justice and attention,” Tatkare said. He said, “We also check what promises were made and fulfilled. Now, we were in Opposition so there are no questions of delivery of given promises.

But as an Opposition, we try to pursue our manifesto and get the work done from ruling party. The manifesto is a reality check for political parties during the polls,” Malik said.
