NCP chief Sharad Pawar unwell, to undergo surgery at a hospital in Mumbai

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar is unwell and will be admitted to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday (March 31) to undergo a surgery.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said that doctors at Breach Candy hospital have detected a "problem" in Pawar's gallbladder and he will undergo a surgery for the same.

Nawab Maik said that the NCP chief was admitted to Breach Candy hospital after he complained of pain in his abdomen. The doctors at the hospital detected a problem in his gall bladder and advised him to undergo surgery on March 31.

"Sharad Pawar was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check-up. Upon diagnosis, it came to light that he has a problem in his gallbladder. He [Sharad Pawar] is on blood-thinning medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital on March 31 and an endoscopy and surgery will be conducted. All his programmes stand cancelled until further notice," Nawab Malik said in a statement.

The news of Pawar's ailment came at a time when political circle in Maharashtra is abuzz with reports that Pawar recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Maharashtra. For his part, Shah on Sunday refrained from confirming the reports of his meeting with NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, saying that "everything can't be made public".
