A report by Intelligence agencies has warned that Naxals are trying to build new bases and for that they have chosen 100 villages along the shared border of Chattisgarh-Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh. The report, sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has revealed Naxal's plan to target security forces deployed in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas.

As per the report, Naxals plan to develop Jan Militia or underground fronts among local villagers and have chosen 100 villages under Gondia-Rajnandgaon-Balaghat division for the purpose.

Maoist outfits have largely consolidated themselves at the tri-junction of Chattisgarh-Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh, having organised multiple training camps for expansion in the future.

"We are keeping eyes on these developments like what is the scale of Maoist activities in these areas and What is the current Security Forces deployments in tri-junction of Chattisgarh-Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh borders and or if there are any gaps?" said one home ministry official working in LWE wing.

The decision by Naxals to expand activities on a larger scale in  Chattisgarh-Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh area was taken long ago and now their one division has been found recently active in bordering area of Balaghat (MP), Rajnandgaon (Chattisgarh) and Gondia (Maharashtra) districts. Naxals are planning to target Security Forces and to disrupt developmental activities.

Movement pattern of Naxal cadres suggests that they are planning to launch an offensive against security forces in Chattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha. Senior members of Area Committee of Naxals instructed its Small Action Teams to identify and kill SPOs and Intelligence staffs of security forces and police informers.

As per the report, Maoists are opposed to government-sponsored development activities. Maoist commanders active in Sukma district of Chattisgarh recently held a meeting with the villagers and were contemplating to destroy the power plant situated at village Penta. They had also urged the villagers to help Naxals in ceasing the road construction activities and cause the damage of vehicles, machines and government properties in the area.
