Armed activists of proscribed CPI (Maoist) on Sunday shot dead a villager and torched his house at village Katwan Sarani under Dharhara police station in Bihar's
Munger district on Sunday, DYSP (HQ) Ashok Kumar said.

Around 75 ultras surrounded the house of one Siyram Sharan Yadav, drove out the women and set it on fire, Kumar said, adding as Yadav attempted to escape, they fired at him from close range, killing him on the spot.

The ultras killed the farmer to avenge murder of one of its hardcore member at the village last year, DYSP said. Raids were on in the Dharhara forest area to track
down the Maoist rebels, he added
