NEW DELHI: Naxal-infested Dantewada district of Chattisgarh has been selected for this year's Satyen Maitra Litercy Award for implementing "Total Literacy Campaign", which will be given by President Pratibha Patil tommorrow on the International Literacy Day.

Lohardaga of Jharkhand will be awarded for implementing "post literacy programme" while Uttara Kannada of Karnataka, Kasargod of Kerala and Chittorgarh of Rajasthan have been chosen for implementing "continuing education programmes", a release said here.
   
"Satyen Maitra Literacy Award instituted in the memory of eminent educationist and social reformer Satyen Maitra aims at encouraging the campaign districts to perform excellent results and to instil a healthy competition among them," the release added.

On the occasion, National Literacy Mission-UNESCO Awards will be given to Jan Shikshan Sansthan of Chandigarh, Jan Shikshan of Nasik and State Resource Centre of Patna.
