Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the nation to produce quality teachers to meet global requirements.
"The world requires quality teachers. India has huge young population. If we are able to place one to two million teachers abroad, we could rewrite our ties with the world in a new way," he said.
Gujarat, which has set up the Indian Institute of Teachers Education to train teachers, wants to extend it to other universities for the all round development of new entrants.
"We want to extend the experiment of the Indian Institute of Teachers Education to other universities running B. Ed (Bachelor of Education) and M. Ed (Masters of Education) courses. We want to use this experiment for the all round development of people who want to join teaching profession after their school education,” he added.
