It is a matter of debate whether advertisements in the media helps people, but it is also true that people buy products after seeing advertisements. This was also a kind of marketing campaign," claimed Congress leader Vaghela in a press release issued here today. "I believe that public figures should not spend money to gain cheap publicity. After independence, many Indian PMs visited US and gave speeches at the United Nations. They were also given a similar red carpet welcome. It is just a routine procedure and there is nothing special about it," Vaghela said.

Speaking about the forthcoming Assembly session, which he feared would be "a single-day affair", Vaghela requested the Gujarat Assembly speaker to extend the session for a week."The people of Gujarat face many problems. So an Assembly session of merely one day would not be enough to discuss these problems in the House. Thus, I have written to the speaker today, requesting him to call for a week long Assembly session," Vaghela said.
