'Comments were made for Rahul Gandhi that he should contest election from other country. Why? People of this country have elected him', Sharma lambasted Modi.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma on Wednesday lambasted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his comments on Rahul Gandhi saying that "he is rattled and has lost his balance".
"Comments were made for Rahul Gandhi that he should contest election from other country. Why? People of this country have elected him. These comments were uncalled for, and it shows that Modi is rattled and has lost his balance," Shamra said addressing reporters.
Modi, recently reacting to a Congress statement that Rahul Gandhi had a national stature while he was a state leader, had said that Rahul was an "international leader" who can also contest elections in Italy.
With the state elections approaching, calling names has become an order of the day in Gujarat.
"Rahul Gandhi has never said that he wanted to become prime minister of India. He has dedicated his work for the people, for the organisation. He is also a leader, who got elected with 3-4 lakhs margin," Sharma further said.
"If Modi has really lost his balance then this is a very serious matter, not only for Gujarat but for the whole country," Sharma said.
"I would love to give him one advice. If he thinks that his stature is so big, his ideology is great, then though I would not suggest him to go out of the country, as he would not even able to go to some nations, let him go to Uttar Pradesh or Bihar to contest the elections," Sharma said.
"Rahul Gandhi can contest elections in Gujarat and can win it also. But if he (Modi) dares to contest elections from Bihar then he should think on how Nitish Kumar will react," the minister quipped.
"In the past few days some public comments were made which were not in good taste of democracy. Debate and criticism is our tradition, but while criticising somebody we should not forget modesty, sincerity, seriousness. Narendra Modi forgot it," Sharma said.
"I would refrain from using the language as Modi because that's not in my or Congress party's culture. The language, the statements which are not respectful, which are not true, are being used repeatedly, it has become his daily routine," he said.
"Comments were made on Sonia Gandhi, the wife of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who got elected with lakhs of votes. This is not in good taste," he remarked.
"The problem with Modi is he is like to over project himself. Every person should know their limitation," he said.
Objecting to Modi's campaign in name of spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda, "In this yatra, taken on government expenses, if Modi carries Vivekananda's values and speaks his language, full of sincerity and modesty, then he can pass on some message to the younger generation. But the message he is spreading is of his politics, it has no resonance with the values that Vivekananda had aspired," Sharma said.
"If he wants to campaign on political issues then he should carry pictures of personalities who have high stature like Gandhiji, Sardar Patel, Nehru and Maulana, and then he should talk about the politics," the Congress leader said.
Modi is campaigning in the state with his 'Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra'.
"He also likes to change his image every now and then. He will have his photographs sometimes with overcoat, though it is not much cold here in Gujarat, sometimes with hat, coat, muffler and golf clubs in his hand. I will be glad if he really knows golfing," Sharma said.
"I hope his real face, thinking and ideology will be put before the people of the state," the minister added.
Sharma alleged that the Modi government is misleading people of Gujarat with false advertisement.
"Government is giving totally misleading and false advertisements terming injustice to the state by the central government. A person holding a constitutional post should refrain from these type of false propaganda," he alleged.
He claimed that UPA government has approved the much ambitious plan of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and the integrated plan of Special Investment Region (SIR) at Dholera.
"Moreover there are so many central government schemes and projects which has contributed largely and decisively in the development of the state," he said.
"But unfortunately these all information about the role of central government in the development has been misrepresented by the Modi government and it hasn't provided the real picture to the people," he alleged.
He vehemently criticised Modi government which accused UPA government of providing subsidy for promoting meat export.
"UPA is not providing any subsidy to promote meat export. We have followed the policy of NDA government and even made some stringent provisions for penal actions for the slaughter of cow progeney and source registration in meat export," he said.
"It is very regrettable and unfortunate that public money has been used in advertisements for abusing Central Government. This in my knowledge is the first incident in the country," he added.
He also took a dig at Modi government for allegedly giving away grazing land to industrial houses.
"At one end government has not left any grazing land for the animals and on other hand it is expressing concerns over the meat export. This is gross irresponsibility and falsehood on part of the Gujarat Government," he alleged.
Similarly the Central Minister also tried to highlight the issue of Cotton export and Diesel price rise on which as per his claims Gujarat government is misleading poeple with false information and claims.
