Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace after verdict on Ayodhya title suit.
"There will be excitement to know about the Ayodhya verdict which will come after long legal battle, but momentary anxiety will not do good to anybody," Modi said in a message just two days ahead of the verdict due to be pronounced on Friday.
"Enemies of the country are in search of opportunities to disturb social fabric of the country and we should not allow them to succeed," Modi said.
Stressing on the importance of maintaining peace, he said the state has seen rapid progress in last eight years due to prevailing peace.
Modi's appeal comes after directive from the Centre to states, particularly sensitive ones like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka, to give "top most priority" in beefing up security to deal with any law and order problem that may arise after the court verdict on Ayodhya title suits.
Ahead of the verdict all police commissioners and district superintendents of Gujarat have been directed to tighten security in their respective jurisdictions.
