Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi observed his 10th district-level Sadbhavna mission fast (including the three-day event in Ahmedabad) on Tuesday, this time in Ahwa, the district headquarters town of Dangs. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister announced a development package for the district worth Rs575 crore.

Praising the people of Dangs, the chief minister hailed the tribal people of the district for actively working for development. Gujaratis everywhere are fasting for Sadbhavna, ignoring the allegations made against the BJP government, he said.

“Dangs is the smallest district of the state but, in recent times, the pace of development in the district has been amazing. People here have faith in development. This is apparent from the fact that 4000 people in the district are fasting with me today,” Modi said.

He declared that Dangs would be developed as a prominent tourist destination in South Gujarat.  Lashing out at the Congress, Modi stated that the country is waiting for overall development but leaders of the party are worried only about their business.

Congress leaders are unable to digest the fact that Gujarat is developing, he said. They have been misleading the people to disrupt projects, he added.

“Gujarat pays Rs50,000 crore per year in taxes. The Union government has never given any clarification about how the amount is spent. Yet we are always accused of corruption and asked to provide details about the money spent by the state government,” Modi said.

Speaking on Sadbhavna mission, Modi said that the mission will show that the main cause of Gujarat’s development is communal harmony and faith of the people. “In the past, state governments indulged in activities which increased the distance between communities but Gujarat’s development has changed all that,” the chief minister said.
