Scores of people, displaced during the Muzaffarnagar riots staged a demonstration on Monday demanding security for bringing their goods from their native place and blocked the Kandhla-Budhana Road at Budhana town in the district.

Hailing from village Mohadpur Raisingh, the people demanded police security to bring their household material from their native area yesterday, police said. The demonstrators were displaced during the Muzaffarnagar riots that took place last year, they said, adding, they are currently living in Budhana town.

According to official statistics, 61 people died in the riots and more than 50,000 were forced to flee their homes and take shelter in relief camps.
