The Udupi Pejawar Mutt has volunteered to construct over 200 houses at a cost of Rs2 crore for people of rain-ravaged North Karnataka. The mutt has been distributing clothes, food and essential utensils to the affected villages of the region, Mutt seer Vishweshateertha Smamiji told reporters here today.

The Mutt's devotees had already collected about Rs10 lakh for the rain-hit victims, he said, adding, he would go on padayatra to seek donations and appeal to other mutts in Udupi to join in for flood relief works.
