The incident took place in Naitand village of Giridh district in Jharkhand.
Rahman Mian had allegedly slaughtered three cows near his residence for distribution among the local members of the Muslim community, said police.
“The situation is under control. However, our men are deployed in the area as a precautionary measure,” Giridih superintendent of police Akhilesh B Variar told the daily.
Police said that extra security forces were deployed and the situation is now under control.

A mob also set the house of Usman Ansari on fire after they spotted the carcass of a cow. The victim was injured and 50 policemen were also injured after a mob pelted stones.
In another incident, a man was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion that he was carrying beef in his vehicle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had denounced cow vigilantes and asked people to beware of its 'fake' protectors trying to divide society and the country and asked the states to severely punish them.
