Although Devnikar has been transferred as commissioner of the National Horticulture Mission, he still holds charge of municipal commissioner and of additional municipal commissioner.  Dhimdhime was speaking to the media on Friday after the appointment of Anupkumar Yadav as new additional municipal commissioner of the PMC. Yadav took charge as additional municipal commissioner (general), which was held by Naresh Zurmure, who has been shifted back to his original charge of garden superintendent.

“The PMC requires two additional commissioners and a municipal commissioner for its functioning. Instead of giving Yadav the charge of Zurmure, Devnikar should have given him charge of additional commissioner held by Devnikar. This would have made the functioning of the PMC smooth,” he said.

When contacted, Devnikar said he was following government orders regarding the posting of Yadav. “The order clearly stated that Yadav should be given the charge of the vacant post of the additional municipal commissioner. Although I have been transferred, the government had deemed it fit to keep the charge of the additional municipal commissioner with me,” he said.  Devnikar said he had talked to the principal secretary about the matter and has followed the orders given to him.
