Mumbai police raid Grand Hyatt, 18 gamblers arrested
The tip off by the informer led police to the room number 1120 and found Rs 6,61,465 from their custody.
The Crime branch unit 8 officers raided Grand Hyatt hotel in Santacruz East and arrested 18 persons for allegedly gambling inside the hotel room. The police have also seized cash worth Rs 6,61,465 from the persons.
The Mumbai police had received a confirmed tip off that few people were playing teen patti inside the hotel room.
The police have also seized the coins used in gambling. "We were informed that few people were gambling inside the hotel room on the first floor and when we entered the room we asked them to not move anything and they revealed that they have come together to play cards which is against the Indian law", said an officer from Vakola police station.
"We have registered the case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Gambling act", said the officer.
