Mumbai Ka DNA : Squatters at Ballard Estate drive guests away from Hotel Winsdor

After his plea fell on deaf ears of those posts of power for nearly a year, a hotel owner reached out to the Mumbai Ka DNA Helpline in hopes of resolving the encroachment menace opposite his property. Mohit Sethi, owner of Hotel Windsor at Ballard Estate says 40 to 50 people have been squatting illegally for eight to 12 months at Kumtha Street in south Mumbai.

He accused the slum-dwellers of being a nuisance, saying, “they litter and dirty the entire pavement, wash and dry their clothes on the street and throw food outside their homes. They have pet stray dogs that are dangerous and consume and sell illegal substances at night.” Sethi says he has been getting constant complaints from the guests of his establishment about them.
