This is the fifth arrest in the case. Police said they arrested Khan after they found that he was constantly in touch with one of the earlier accused. On tracking his call records, they found that he had also received several calls from Pakistan and Dubai at the same time the complainant had received the threat calls.

Khan was produced in the court on Friday from where he has been remanded in police custody till Monday (February 26).

In November, the Khar police had registered an FIR after Shabnam Shaikh, who runs a garment business, alleged that a person, who identified himself as Usman Choudhary, called her from Karachi and demanded Rs 1 crore on behalf of Chhota Shakeel, Dawood Ibrahim, and Fahim Machmach. The woman also claimed in her statement that the accused threatened her of dire consequences if the demand is not fulfilled.

Sheikh had also told police that she had started receiving multiple calls from Pakistan-based numbers after she filed a cheating complaint against former Bigg Boss contested Zubair Khan.

The AEC then initiated a probe and arrested Bilaal Shamsi (50) a resident of Bandra and Harish Kumar Yadav from Delhi, and four others, including Khan, who were involved in calling and threatening the woman.

During his stint in the Bigg Boss, Zubair Khan had even threatened host Salman Khan and had claimed that he had underworld connections.
