After disallowing sleeveless tops and shorts, the St Xavier's College has now banned ripped jeans in the college campus.

According to the Times of India, a few professors had said that it the attire had become an embarrassment in the class. Principal Agnelo Menezes said that the torn part of the jeans could be anywhere which leads to embarrassment, 

He also said that the ripped jeans made a mockery of the poor. "Torn clothes are worn by the poor because they have no choice and one cannot make it a fashion statement," said Menezes.  He added that students should be more professional within the college campus can do wear fashionable clothes outside the college.  "A business school will never allow such clothes on the campus," he said.

Students do not mind the ban saying with some saying that there was an 'unwritten rule' about wearing ripped jeans. Others have said that a complete ban on such attires must be brought about.
