LUCKNOW: Under pressure from Governor TV Rajeshwar and the opposition, UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav announced on Friday that he had recommended CBI inquiries into the serial killings in NOIDA of children from the nearby Nithari village and the murder of Kavita Chaudhry in Meerut.

Yadav announced that the government would give a plot of land to each aggrieved family and consider the demand for a job for each such family.

Asked if he would visit Nithari, he said, “I might go if necessary… Shivpal Singh (his brother and PWD minister) has already visited the place.”

Yadav said that though both cases had been unravelled by the police, he had decided to hand them over to the CBI in view of the persistent demand by other parties. Apparently, the final push came on Thursday when Rajeshwar wrote to him asking for a CBI probe in the NOIDA case.
