NEW DELHI: As political activity over the Indo-US nuclear deal gained momentum, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is understood to have discussed the issue with him.

Mukherjee, who met Singh to hand over a copy of E-passport, was with the Prime Minister for about 30 minutes.

It is believed that they discussed the issue relating to the impasse over the nuclear deal.

The government is keen to go ahead with implementation of the deal but Left parties are strongly opposing it, leading to a deadlock over the deal.

Hectic political activity, including meetings involving leaders of Congress, UPA allies, Left parties and Samajwadi Party, have been underway for the last few days.
