Former Rajya Sabha member and senior BJP leader Raghunandan Sharma has taken a dig at Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over his 'mai ka lal' remarks and said that it might make them lose 10 to 15 seats in the state assembly elections.

Sharma's comment comes amid the exit polls predicting a tight finish between the BJP and the Congress in Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP leader was referring to Chouhan’s comment “Koi mai ka lal aarakshan nahi khatam kar sakta  (Nobody can end reservation).”

Sharma said that Chouhan's remarks had created anger among people and it may affect the party by 10-15 seats. However, he said that exit polls might turn out to be wrong but they also don't meet expectations.

"We might have made mistakes, so the exit polls. Let alone 200+ seats, we will be satisfied if we get the number of seats we won last time. But even if we don't get that, BJP will get majority," sharma added.

Meanwhile, Chouhan on Saturday said that he is confident of his party's win in the recently-held assembly elections in the state.

"There cannot be a surveyor bigger than me, someone who is among the people day in and day out. Therefore, I am saying this confidently that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government. This is important for everyone - poor, farmers, children and women," Chouhan told media.

The state went for voting on November 28, and the results will be announced on December 11. As many as 2,899 candidates were in the fray including 250 women and five third gender candidates.
