Amid allegations from several quarters that the murder of a businessman in west Delhi's Moti Nagar was being given a communal colour, the family of 51-year-old Dhruv Tyagi has made similar claim.

The family, upset over attempts to give communal colour to the incident, the accused could be from any community and it just so happens that they were Muslim.

"This is an incident where anybody could have been the accused. This incident should not be given communal colour," Tapesh Tyagi, brother of the deceased businessman said, appealing that people should not pay attention to rumours.

The 51-year-old businessman was stabbed multiple times by the accused on Sunday for objecting to lewd comments made by some boys on his daughter. He succumbed to injuries the next day. The victim's 19-year-old son, who tried to rescue his father, was also stabbed and is battling for life.

The incident took place in Basai Darapur are of Moti Nagar.

A 45-year-old man and his 20-year-old son have been arrested in connection with the killing. Two other sons of the 45-year-old man, who are juveniles, have been apprehended.

Meanwhile, DCP West Delhi Monika Bhardwaj met the family and assured them of full support. The family also expressed satisfaction with the investigation.

The AAP and the BJP traded allegations on Tuesday over the brutal killing, with the former saying the incident should not be given a "religious colour".

BJP's Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta questioned the Kejriwal government why it was "silent" on the incident.

"Will they speak only if they see some political advantage in reacting or they do not want to react as the accused belong to a particular community and it will adversely affect their vote bank," Gupta charged.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded that police take the "strongest" action against the guilty.

AAP's Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh condemned the attack, saying "political forces" should not give a religious colour to the incident.

"It was an unfortunate incident which should not be mixed with religion. Some fringe groups are trying to give the incident a religious angle but that is unacceptable," he said.

The family of a businessman has decided to shift to another locality following the "apathetic" behaviour of the locals, some of whom even made videos of the incident.

A nephew of the deceased said the family has been living in Basai Darapur for over 100 years now.

The relative alleged that the accused were not alone in the act and the women of their family also aided in the act, a charge the police said was being investigated.
