Chandu Chavan is an Indian soldier who is believed to be in Pakistan custody for accidentally crossing the border.
Dr Subhash Bhamre, minister of state for defence, reassured the family of Chandu Chavan, the soldier who is believed to be in Pakistan custody for accidentally crossing the border, that the government is trying everything possible to bring him back.
Chavan hails from Borvihir village in Dhule district and had joined the army following the foot steps of his brother. His grandmother who had brought him up, suffered a heart attack upon hearing the news and succumbed to it.
"Meetings are being held at very high levels and the government is very serious about bringing Chandu back," Dr Bhamre told Bhushan Chavan, Chandu's brother. Union home minister Rajnath Singh is also making efforts to ensure the safe return of Chandu from Pakistan. "The government is with you. Do not loose hope," he told the family.
