THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The South West Monsoon hit the Kerala coast on Friday, six days in advance.

Meteorological Director K Santhosh said that all the conditions were favourable for an advanced monsoon in the state.

He said the sudden change in the circulation pattern, the effect of the westerlies and other climate factors had contributed to the advanced monsoon onset in the country.

It would cover the whole of the state tomorrow and advance towards coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the coming days.  He said the quantum of rains in this monsoon would be seven per cent less compared to last time.

The agricultural sector mainly depends on the south west monsoon.
