Chief minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate new building of the Maninagar police station on Thursday. Built at a cost of Rs88.77 lakh, the police station is equipped with modern facilities giving it a corporate look.  The two-storied police station on a sprawling campus has separate rooms for various sections, including a library and a conference hall. The swanky thana has separate lock-ups for male and female inmates with attached bathrooms. Though, the lock-ups are big, some people are apprehensive that the thin iron rods may encourage prisoners to attempt an escape.

The photo gallery at the entrance throws light on the city landmarks as Kankaria lake, various darwazas and other places. The police station also houses a gymnasium and charts depicting the various yogashnas.

"With an increase in our jurisdiction, there was a need to revamp the old police station. The police personnel working here will not face any difficulty in performing their duties," DCP, AP Vasava said.

Maninagar police station senior police inspector, PJ Trivedi said, "Generally, police personnel don't get time for physical exercises and yoga. Now, with gymnasium and yoga facilities on the premises, it won't be difficult for us to exercise regularly."
